my! where are we
by Matthew Dickens

by tha power invested in me
i cost you seventeen useless
trips to florence

my! where are we from?
did we not learn this in chicago?
how can i be you when
you are off in california
       missing baton rouge
       and writing new orleans

by now i might hav known tha way
to lowell, massachusetts
or how to get around cincinnati
         in tha jeans we bought
         last fall
                  in san francisco
